Fund Manager Factsheets

An additional way to research your investments is by looking at the performance of the fund managers themselves.

Note: This is only for UK Unit Trusts & OEICs

We now provide a detailed and interactive factsheet of individual managers across all the funds they have managed over the last decade.

The fund manager factsheets may be accessed from the relevant fund factsheet directly,

Or by adding the manager to the active list.

You can also use the Management Selection drop down to choose the manager you want. You can search for a manager by

  • FE Alpha Managers
  • Management Group
  • Sector

The factsheets contain a wide range of information of the manager's performance versus their peer group composite.

Funds Managed

This section shows the funds currently and previously managed by the fund manager, as well as whether they have been a sole or co-manager as well as the dates that they have been with the funds.

Summary & Verdict

Here we give an overall verdict of the manager's performance vs. their peer group composite as well as an FE Alpha Manager rating if they qualify for one.

Cumulative Performance Table

This section will show standard performance periods of the manager's performance and their peer group composite over 1m, 3m, 6m, 1y, 3y, 5y, 7y and since the start of our calculations of January 2000.

Line Charts

The line charts show

  • Total Return Performance of the manager vs. their peer group composite
  • Alpha Return of the fund manager vs. their peer group composite
  • Excess Return of the fund manager vs. their peer group composite
  • R-square of the fund manager vs. their peer group composite

Note: You can choose the selection to show individual funds or sectors or even change the time period that is shown in these charts from the settings section just above the chart.

Discrete Table & Chart

The discrete table and chart shows the fund managers and their peer group composites discrete performance over multiple time periods. Just like the line charts, you can change the time scales and what is shown by selection individual funds or funds from certain sectors only from the settings selection.

Note: We will automatically change the level of granularity of the discrete period's dependant on your time selection

  • Under 2.5 years we use 3 months granularity
  • 2.5 - 5 years we use 6 months granularity
  • Over 5 years we use 12 months granularity

The decomposition chart may be new to some users and the chart shows,

  • Total Return - The Total Return over a discrete period
  • Alpha - The Alpha over the discrete period
  • Excess return - The Managers Total Return minus the Peer Group Composite Total Return over a discrete period)

These charts shows if a fund manager is adding value and you want lots of red at the top of the charts to show this.

Key Measurements

Here we show the over and under performance of the manager in raising and falling markets.

Note: Whatever chart tab, time period of instrument you have selected from the settings will be represented on the PDF output.
