Performance Tables

Select the performance table option from the Tables dropdown.

Select the period type that you wish to use by using the period drop down box (which includes a number of standard options). Alternatively, you can use your own dates by selecting user specified (at the top of the list) and typing in the dates.

Note: The dates must be input in the format dd/mm/yyyy (see our Appendix for a range of quick shortcuts when using custom dates).

Select whether returns should be shown offer to bid or bid to bid from the Pricing Spread drop down.

Select whether the table should be shown on a percentage change, annualised percentage or cash lump sum basis via the Performance Growth Options.

You can also choose whether to highlight quartiles, quintiles, deciles or percentiles or the rank column from the drop downs.

Select the ranking method within table or full sector by choosing the appropriate option from the Ranking Method drop down.

  • Within table, will rank the contents of the table only.
  • Full sector will rank the contents of the table within their entire sector though only the table contents will be shown.
  • Full sector (main units) will rank only the driver units of the table within their entire sector though only the table contents will be shown.

Note: If you choose to use full sector ranking, bear in mind that the table will take longer to load as you could be (potentially) ranking thousands of funds.

To add a rank sub column to the data columns within the table, go to Rank Column at the top of the screen and select from the standard options which are, quartile rank, quintile rank, decile rank, percentile rank and absolute rank.

Where instruments from multiple sectors are included in a table, you can group them within their own sector (select "Group within" from the top of the results window), and apply ranking or sorting within each sector. Any table exported to a CSV file has sector included alongside each fund.

The tables are interactive and you can move columns by using the "Customise Columns" option in the top left hand corner of the table. This will allow you (as shown above) to reshuffle columns using the arrows and to add ranking columns to the performance columns of data. This is entirely flexible and it is possible to add Quartile and/or Decile and/or Percentile and/or Absolute rankings to some or all of the columns.

Once you have reached your decision, click on Commit on the right hand side to effect the changes in the table.

Note: You can add ranking columns to individual data columns or to all data columns using the All Columns option.

There is also an option to highlight the table by rank. This will give the option to show a "heat map" on the table as seen below when I have selected quartiles.

To highlight individual funds in the list, simply double click on the fund name. This will highlight that particular fund a dark orange shade and make it easier to identify it as you read across the screen.

To deselect the highlighting on a particular fund, double click on it again and the highlight will be removed.

To add individual instruments to the active list click on the add to active list  icon to the left of the instrument name in the table.

To create a scatter chart using columns from the table, click on the scatter chart options text at the bottom left hand side of the table and select the required fields. Click on the scatter chart button at the bottom of the table to draw the scatter chart.

To update the calculations on a previously saved table, choose Refresh Table from the Options menu.

To save the table choose Save from the File menu. You will be prompted to give the table a name and it will be saved in your directory. Saved tables will be saved with their original data.

There are a number of different options to export the table which are all available from the Export menu:

  • PDF (Portrait)
  • PDF (Landscape
  • Print (Portrait)
  • Print (Landscape)
  • Image to Clipboard - copies an image of the table to your computer's keyboard for copying into external programs like MS Word/Excel.
  • Export to CSV - exports the table as a CSV file.
  • Export to XLS - exports the table as an excel file.
  • Export to XML - exports the table as an XML file.
